Early Risers Kiwanis Club of YC
Early Risers Kiwanis of Yuba City offer two categories of scholarships to honor and memorialize the deceased charter members of the Yuba City Early Risers Kiwanis Club for their years of dedication to helping the youth in our community. These members are Vern Williams, Don Turano, Del Heffley, Walt Huss, Jim Nunes, Obie Wickersham, Doug Usedom, Annette Gisi, and Barbara Larcom.
These scholarships are reserved for students attending Sutter High School or River Valley High School. The deadline to apply is March 28, 2026 at 5:00 pm. Send application and attachments to erickd@franklin.k12.ca.us.
The two scholarships are described below. Be sure to fill out the correct application for the scholarship you are seeking. Applicants may only apply for one of the two scholarships.

The Early Riser Kiwanis Academic Scholarship in the amount of $1000 which is based on academic achievement, community service, and financial need. It is intended for graduating seniors who will be attending a college or university the year after high school.

The E.R.K. Vocational Scholarship in the amount of $1000 which is reserved for graduating students who are planning on furthering their education after high school by attending a community college or trade school during the following school year. Students must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA. The scholarship will be based on the student's description of their educational and career goals, their school and community involvement, and a letter of recommendation.
